Mideast Gulf Widens Over ‘Jewish State’ Question Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas has embraced the so-called “two-state solution” to the conflict, but his refusal to say publicly that those two states would be Jewish and Palestinian homelands has set off alarm bells among many Israelis.
