The trouble with the term "moderate Muslims" is that it's like the term "real Muslims", as in "real Muslims" wouldn't engage in suicide attacks or terrorism. Too bad, the Quran is Islam's ultimate authority, and in 9:111 Allah promises paradise to all Muslims who "kill and are killed" for his cause, with the definition of just what that cause is being very hazy. Worse, the Quran doesn't specifically promise paradise for anything else. So, a moderate Muslim could just be considered to be one who hasn't decided to get violent for Allah yet, sorry. While Christianity and Judaism have undergone reformations, Islam still hasn't, the closest thing being Kemal Ataturk, who reformed Turkey by separating mosque and state for over 80 years, but like Soviet Communism his movement seems to be crumbling daily, since no man has the authority to countermand the commands of Allah in the Quran. As the world shrinks daily, the fact remains that the 1.x billion world Muslims don't read Western philosophy books, the U.S. Constitution or bios. of George Washington daily, they read the Quran.
