Turkey was once the head of the horrible Ottoman Empire that gave the West hell for 400 years until its big military defeat in Vienna in 1683, after which it became the Sick Man of Europe, systematically dismantled and then rendered kaput after WWI, along with the caliphate that has the power to declare jihad, hence the pesky recent Muslims terrorists who take it on themselves to do so, and the real reason mainline Muslims deny them. Turkey then became the poster boy for secular Islam, which shucks political world domination supremacy Islam for integration into the civilized world, and for awhile it seemed to be working. Too bad, the original Islam is rapidly taking over Turkey again, and if it does, and they restore the caliphate, this time they will have nukes, a huge fifth column in Europe, and alliances with who knows what Islam history ignoramus country to get it off to a fast and horrible start.
